The Villages Golf Courses & Pools underwhelming in New Development

As The Villages grows, residents are finding it increasingly difficult to snag golf tee times and pool space—especially during the bustling snowbird season. While new neighborhoods continue to be developed, many Villagers feel that amenities like executive golf courses and pools aren’t keeping pace with the demand.

Executive Courses: Plenty on Paper, Overbooked in Practice

According to the official Executive Golf Trail map, The Villages now offers 46 (at the time of this article) nine-hole executive courses—all unique and maintained to a high standard. These courses range in difficulty and length, offering many options for players of all skill levels. But with rising enrollment and seasonal influxes, playing time pressure is mounting, and many residents report booking windows dramatically shrinking or disappearing during winter months.

Pools Feeling the Heat Too

Exact figures for community pools are harder to pinpoint, but with a growing population and more active lifestyle demands, many say that existing pool facilities—especially in newer sectors—feel stretched to capacity.

What’s the Solution?

Should future developments include additional golf courses or pools? Or might upgrades to existing facilities—like expanded tee-time access, longer pool hours, or reservable usage—be more feasible? Balancing growth with amenity access is becoming a pivotal challenge for planners and residents alike.

What do YOU think? Are current amenities sufficient—or overdue for expansion?
